DXF Import

DXF Import (Add)

DXF Export

Objective

DXF is the standard format to save 2D pattern information in the CAD industry.
CLO is compatible with most of the pattern CAD such as YUKA, Gerber, Lectra, StyleCAD, Optitex, PAD System and more through DXF-AAMA and DXF-ASTM file formats.

※ Note: Because each CAD system has different export options and information composition structure, errors may arise seldom when importing DXF files to CLO.
When you encounter aforementioned issue, please send the file to us and we will resolve the problem as soon as possible.

Location

Import DXF

Operation

 Import DXF

  1. Follow the indicated guideline below:

    Main Menu ▶ File ▶ Import ▶ DXF(AAMA/ASTM) (Ctrl+Shift+D)

→ The Open File window appears.

  2. Select the desired file and select OK.
→ The Import DXF window appears.

  3. Adjust settings below as needed and select OK.

Select Pattern to Export
(ver4.2.0)

Choose the Size Group to be exported with the DXF file. Only one Size Group can be exported for each file.

Scale

Select the unit the pattern was made in CAD.

*The default unit in CLO is "mm".

If the Auto Scale option is checked, the scale of the DXF file will be automatically applied (ver3.1.0).

Rotation As importing the file, rotate all patterns.

Option

(Import Pattern Annotations)

Check on this option to import pattern annotations (ver3.1.0).

Option

(Auto-Trace as Internal Lines)

Automatically trace all baselines as internal lines.

Option

(Swap Cutting Line and Sewing Line)

Check this section if the cutting lines (the outer lines of the pattern to cut) and sewing lines (the outer lines of the pattern to be set as sewing) are swapped.

* The margins and sewing lines can be changed in the export options of the pattern CAD files of the exported DXF files.

Include Notches
(ver4.2.0)
Notches are moved to Seam Allowances when cutting line and sewing line are swapped.
Option

(Auto Distribute)
If this option is checked, all patterns will be automatically organized and redistributed.
Option

(Optimize All Curve Points)
If this option is checked, the number of curve points will be optimized (ver3.1.0).

Import (Add) DXF

  1. Follow the indicated guideline below:

    Main Menu ▶ Import (Add) ▶ DXF(AAMA/ASTM) (Ctrl+Shift+F)

→ The Add DXF window appears.

  2. As setting the Import DXF options, adjust the settings as needed.

Export DXF

  1. Follow the indicated guideline below:

    Main Menu ▶ Export ▶ DXF(AAMA/ASTM)

→ The Save File window appears.

  2. Type in the file name and designate the path the file is saved to.
→ The Export DXF window appears.

  3. Adjust settings shown below as needed and select OK.

    DXF Export Options

DXF Format  Set the DXF export format
Scale (Ver.2.4.0)   Set the units of the patterns for export (ver2.4.0).
*The default unit in CLO is "mm"
Rotation (Ver.2.4.0)   Rotate patterns for export (ver2.4.0)

    Option
Export without Grading If this option is checked, grading information will be excluded.
    Export without Baselines
    (ver4.2.0)
    Export Patterns without Baselines.
    Duplicate Notch on Seam Allowance
    (ver4.2.0)
Notches are added to Seam Allowances.
Swap Cutting Line and Sewing Line  The types of the cutting lines and sewing lines defined by CLO 3D and pattern CAD may differ.

Changes the types of the cutting lines and sewing lines through the options when exporting as a DXF file.

Convert Curve Point to Straight Point (AI Only)

While importing DXF files from AI (Adobe Illustrator), the information for curved lines may be imported improperly, resulting in part of the pattern being distorted..

Converts all curved lines of the pattern to straight lines through the options while exporting as a DXF file.

    * As the points of the curved line are dense, even if they are converted into straight lines the shape of the pattern will be maintained.

    Optimize All Curve Points
    (Ver .3.0.0)
Optimize the number of curve points located on a curved segment of a Pattern for easier editing (ver3.0.0).
Export Pattern Bounding Box   Export patterns with bounding boxes, to edit images in 3rd party software such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
